NOTE:  These robots are not meant for children.  All of the humanoid robot models discussed on this website use
powerful servos that can pinch or even crush your fingers if you are not careful.  Consult the recommended minimum
age from the manufacturer before allowing children to use any of these robots.
Select a Robot
This robot comes with a surprisingly cheap price
tag for a robot with 17 DOF.  The marketing of
this robot appears to position it as more of a toy
than a full robotic platform.
Powerful servos provide ample torque, however
data on the servo speed is not available.
This robot was released in time for the holiday
season of 2008, and has yet be a huge success.
The user community has yet to form, and support
from the manufacturer appears almost non-
existent.
This robot has attractive styling, and even the promise of upgradeable body shells.  The robot comes with a speaker in
the chest that can play up to 16 different sounds that you can upload. There are many videos on the web showing this
robot dancing, however, we have yet to see this robot actually walk.  Based on our
Human Emulation testing, this leads
us to believe that the robot is closer to a toy than a full robotic platform.

Recommendation:   The low price of the MechRC offers an attractive entry point for beginners.  The marketing and
styling of the robot indicate the target audience may be more interested in using this robot as a toy, than as a platform
for customization.  The complete lack of a user community, or substantial support from the manufacturer suggest you
may be on your own if you want to develop hacks and mods for this robots.  The Robobuilder seems to offer a more
fully designed product for only a few dollars more.
