NOTE: These robots are not meant for children. All of the humanoid robot models discussed on this website use
powerful servos that can pinch or even crush your fingers if you are not careful. Consult the recommended minimum
age from the manufacturer before allowing children to use any of these robots.
The base robot comes with 17 DOF, and includes
5 "dummy" servos. These dummy servos can be
replaced with real servos, as your budget allows
you to upgrade. This is an interesting approach
that no other manufacturer has taken.
The servos on this robot are some of the most
powerful in our survey, and yet speed has not
been sacrificed
While the KHR-3HV robot is new, it comes with
years of experience from Kondo's prior robots.
The build process and software will be familiar to
prior Kondo owners. The big drawback is that
the User manual and software are not available
in English.
The KHR-3HV represents another evolution of the humanoid robot from Kondo. Designing a robot that can be
upgraded from 17 servos to 22 sounds like a good idea, but it will be interesting if the additional weight from the servos
changes the balance of the robot's motions. Videos also show this robot walking on carpet, which is extremely difficult
for other robots to achieve.
user manual and software are not available in English, which will make building and using this robot difficult. Based on
the prior success of Kondo robots, the user community will likely form quickly. Most robot manufacturers have been
trying to reduce the price of their robots to gain more acceptance, but Kondo has taken a different approach and
made this robot more expensive than its predecessors.
